This Ayurvedic face cream banished my acne scars and made my skin visibly clearer in 2 weeks

Ever since I was a teenager, my skin has given me issues. It was either breaking out or extremely dry and patchy. My dermatologist diagnosed me with dry skin, and she told me to keep moisturising my face. While she advised me to use Cetaphil for my face, I didn’t follow her instructions for too long — I was drawn towards Ayurvedic face creams.

For years, Vicco Turmeric was my go-to face cream for all my acne and dryness issues. And for some time, it worked. I made my peace with its peculiar fragrance and sickly yellow coloured paste, and applied it religiously in the morning after cleansing my face with (another acne-curing remedy) a neem face wash. However, the realisation that the face cream lacked one crucial factor that every BB cream these days is formulated with made me drop it. Yes, we’re talking about SPF, folks.

This swiftly made me move to BB creams and light foundations, and I tried out some major beauty brands (that didn’t burn a hole in my pocket). These creams helped cure my dryness, but didn’t do much for my skin.

Exasperated, and almost desperate, I decided to try out another Ayurvedic cream — Kama Ayurveda’s Eladi Hydrating Ayurvedic cream, that the brand claims is made using a formula prescribed in the “ancient Ayurvedic text of Ashtanga Hrudayam as the ideal skin treatment.” Though the face cream is meant for use during the day, I decided to apply it after washing my face at night, right before bed. That gave the ancient formula 8 hours to work its magic.

Within two weeks, my skin was visibly clearer and acne-free, and the skin texture improved drastically. The results were so obvious, my editor insisted I write this story to help other women struggling with the same issues.

The sweet-smelling cream comprises of herbs like costus and cardamom (which help enhance skin texture), aloe vera (its antiseptic properties keep pimples, blemishes and fine lines at bay and provides adequate sun protection) and extracts of olive oil, all blended in coconut milk and sesame oil. Finally, pure essential oils of rose and jasmine help in giving that healthy glow. The cream claims to be suitable for all skin types.
