Estée Lauder’s first India ambassador, Diana Penty shares her skincare secrets

She might have been away from the silver screen for a while but that doesn’t mean model-turned-actor Diana Penty hasn’t been busy. Last seen in Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, Penty was recently named the first India ambassador for renowned beauty brand, Estée Lauder. A perfect match, Penty’s beauty mantra is simplicity which aligns with the brand’s overarching philosophy. We recently caught up with the actor at a launch in Mumbai to find out more about her skincare secrets, challenges, and how the industry’s perception towards beauty has changed over the years:

ELLE: What’s your beauty regime like?

Diana Penty: I wash my face with a mild face wash and then use Estée Lauder‘s Advanced Night Repair which I am currently addicted to. In the morning, I use a day moisturiser and at night, I use a heavier moisturiser for some extra TLC because I have pretty dry skin mainly around my chin and cheeks. I know this is the most basic routine but it is one that I follow without fail.

ELLE: What does beauty mean to you?

DP: It’s not something you can capture in just one statement; I think it’s a combination of factors—it’s persona and the way you carry yourself. It also has a lot to do with the confidence with which you carry yourself. I think that confidence breeds beauty. So, for me a confident and happy person is a beautiful person.

ELLE: What do you think is your biggest beauty learning over the last few years?

DP: It is actually something I learnt a long time ago from my mum—simplicity. I think my mother is very elegant, graceful and one of the most beautiful people I know. She feels that beauty lies in simplicity and that’s something she has taught me as well. I think in life I have always followed that in terms of my dressing or my make-up. I just like to keep it subtle, simple, and elegant.

ELLE: What’s the one thing that makes you feel confident?

DP: A good skin day!

ELLE: What’s the biggest beauty challenge you face when you’re on set or shooting on location?

DP: If I am on set many days in a row and we’re outdoors, it’s very difficult to stay hydrated through the day; drinking enough water and keeping my skin moisturised is a big challenge. Therefore, I do focus a lot on hydration.
