In theory the DAFNI brush sounds like a dream. It’s a ceramic hair-straightening brush that helps you smooth through knotty curls, frizz and flyaways. It heats up to 185 degrees within seconds, and never makes your hair flat. You just brush through in long, outward strokes, away from the scalp, for an at-home blow-dry effect. But is it good enough to ditch the flat iron and weekly blow-outs?
“My wavy hair goes all the way down to my knees, which makes any sort of styling (besides bed head) a task. I could never imagine parting ways with my GHD straightener that I’ve sworn by for straight, shiny hair for over 6 years now. While the Dafni brush claims to ‘straighten’ hair, it left mine with a halfway blow-dried feel. Plus, the humidity got the best of it within an hour of me stepping out of the house. I think I’ll rely on my beloved till I get the hang of this brush.” – Anjan Sachar, beauty assistant
“I generally prefer my natural hair texture (which is mostly straight) but I could do with a little volume. And I'm extremely low maintenance when it comes to my beauty regimen, so I only opt for products and techniques that are no-fuss. The Dafni brush unfortunately stressed me out–it cannot be used on wet hair, I was constantly worrying about burning my scalp since I have a fringed bob and I was left with a strange amount of static.” – Nidhi Jacob, fashion editor
“Growing out a smoothening treatment can be really tricky because no matter what I try it never looks quite right. The ends are poker straight, then there are kinks and then the natural wavy hair. But the Dafni hair brush smoothened it all the way and settled the frizz so that my hair looked effortlessly blow-dried. The best part is that it's much easier and quicker than a flat iron. This maybe a hefty investment (at Rs 15,000) but just imagine never having a bad hair day ever again." – Bahaar Peshawaria, junior graphic designer
