Does it Work?

ELLE Review: L’Oréal Paris Cannes collection

We put the Cannes collection's matte and gloss shades to the test

  • L'Oréal Superliner 36H Gel Intenza

“Although I’m a huge eyeliner fan, I’ve always been a little skeptical about gel liners. I have always found them immensely dry, eventually cracking up in the container. But, surprisingly, the L'Oréal Superliner 36H Gel Intenza is creamy, soft and glides on easily. The deep-blue pigment made for an intense colour, which I loved – and it lasts! Way past the regular 9-to-5. The best part? It doesn’t smudge, so no more panda eyes.”

  • L'Oréal Limited Edition Swarovski Moist Mat Lipstick

“I generally stick with maroons, muted pinks and nudes, so finding the perfect summer shade with just the right amount of pop was difficult. This raspberry syrup shade is just right, and goes perfectly with a wheatish skin tone, like mine.

It's quite moisturising and doesn't leave my lips feeling dry. Despite that it has an amazing matte finish, which I absolutely love. Plus, it lasts (and how!) it took me comfortably through a hectic day from morning to evening without having to re-apply it. Definitely a keeper!”

  • L'Oréal L’Extraordinaire Gloss

“There is such a thing as too much gloss. Which is partly why I don’t use them very much. What I liked about L'Oréal’s L’Extraordinaire Gloss is that it leaves a hint of colour, even after the sheen wears off. And, of course, it packs more moisture than lipsticks typically do, so it’s a neat quick fix when you’re dealing with dry lips. But – as with most glosses – you need to keep pesky fly-aways in check, which is always a bother.”
