It’s tough to say how a myth gets started. Some have been around for so long, they acquire a ring of authenticity with every repetition. For example, that birth control pills make you fat. Or that hair colour hastens the greying process. Or this piece of blatant discrimination: curly-haired women cannot get bangs. Science, logic and your favourite hairstylist can easily help expose these time-honoured fairy tales. We take a handful of them head-on to see if there’s even a little bit of truth in there.
