Arjun Kapoor wasn’t always the big brother that Janhvi Kapoor and her sister Khushi could rely on. Though they have the same father, filmmaker Boney Kapoor, the young actor could never deal with the fact that his parents divorced and Boney moved on with Sridevi. Those of a certain vintage will remember that Boney’s subsequent marriage to Sridevi caused a huge rift in the family, with the half-siblings never being seen at family events at the same time. In an interview given in May 2017 to Business of Cinema, Arjun spoke candidly of the absence of a relationship with his sisters: “We don’t really meet and spend time together so it doesn’t really exist.”
But all that changed with Sridevi’s tragic death earlier this year, and Arjun and sister Anshula have really stepped in to make their younger siblings feel secure and loved in this trying time. Just last night, Arjun posted the sweetest message to Janhvi Kapoor, whose film trailer for Dhadak — her debut film opposite Shahid Kapoor’s brother, Ishaan Khattar — released today.
“Tomorrow you will be part of the audience forever @janhvikapoor cause your trailer comes out… Firstly, sorry I’m not there in mumbai but I’m by your side, don’t worry. I just wanted you to know this profession is amazing if you work hard, be honest, learn to take the accolades with the brickbats, respect opinions, yet follow ur own path & instinct. It’s not gonna be easy but I know your are ready for all the madness that will ensue. All the best for #dhadak!
