It was only a few days ago that our social media feeds alerted us of the untimely death of Bollywood icon Sridevi. The news shook the country. It seemed like a cruel Internet fabrication, sudden in its appearance and lacking in accurate information.
The actor, and wife of producer Boney Kapoor and mother to two beautiful young daughters, Jahnvi Kapoor (who will soon make her acting debut) and Khushi Kapoor, started her career at the age of 4. One of the country’s best-known artistes, Sridevi leaves behind a tremendous body of work — having acted in over 250 films — and an indelible mark on the Indian film industry and its members.
Friends, family and colleagues shared their sorrow for the loss of one, who had moulded and enriched many of their careers, at the prayer meet, which was followed by the cremation in Mumbai on February 28.
