This is Bollywood’s favourite new restaurant in Mumbai

When it comes to eating out, Bollywood stars tend to be creatures of comfort zones. Wary of paparazzi cameras and hysterical fans with camera phones, they tend not to stray too far from tried-and-tested havens. Wasabi at the Taj Mahal Palace and Towers in Mumbai is one popular haunt, Le Cirque at the Leela is another. So it’s good news for everybody when a new celebrity-designed restaurant opens, adding some variety to the mix.

Launched in Shah Rukh Khan’s home suburb of Bandra, this new ‘experiential’ restaurant is designed by the Raees star’s accomplished interior decorator wife, Gauri. Chef Arminder Sandhu is the creative force behind the operation, bringing an “ingredient-forward” menu to life in his “gas-free kitchen”.

Put it down to the restaurant’s novelty factor, of the celebrity clout of one Mrs Khan, but Arth’s opening night could have rivalled a blockbuster film premiere.

Sonam Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez twinned in monochrome ensembles, while Kriti Sanon and Alia Bhatt took a more casual approach to fine-dining in sequinned shirt dresses and palazzos respectively. Shah Rukh Khan played chaperone to his daughter Suhana, who clearly inherited her mother Gauri’s love for bandage dresses. Arjun Kapoor and uncle Anil Kapoor joined the fray, with Sushant Singh Rajput and Sidharth Malhotra joining their rumoured girlfriends, Kriti and Alia, at the celebrity bash.
