DJ Mag’s Top 100 listing for 2016 is finally here!

For most dance music lovers, the DJ Mag’s Top 100 listing is one to watch out for – did my favourite artist make it to the top 10? Was spending my life’s worth of savings at that music festival for nothing? The struggle is real, friends. Here’s the top 10 – click here for the complete listing.

1 Martin Garrix

2 Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike

3 Hardwell

4 Armin Van Buuren

5 Tiesto

6 David Guetta

7 Steve Aoki

8 Oliver Heldens

9 Skrillex

10 Afrojack

Belgian duo Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike were crowned the best in the world by DJ Mag for 2015 – admit it, you’ve been obsessed with Tsunami too – while Martin Garrix took the spot this year (and bumped them down a step), as announced on October 19 (PS: he’s coming to India with Sunburn this November!) We chatted up Dimitri Vegas pre-show while the duo was on their India tour this month for ‘Smirnoff Experience with Dimitri Vegas Like Mike & Marshmello’ – we think it’s safe to say they love us just as much as we love them.

ELLE: You guys are No 1 in the world right now. How does that feel?

Dimitri Vegas: It feels amazing. We’re really proud to have so many fans, especially Indian fans who’ve voted for us.

ELLE: Are you excited about 2016’s results?

DV: It’s something that’s always the cherry on top of what you’ve achieved over the past year. We’re happy with any position that the fans vote us at.

ELLE: What’s your Indian experience been like? How does this audience differ from the other crowds you play for?

DV: They’re very energetic, one of the craziest crowds in the world! In fact, our new single with Diplo is dropping on October 28 called Hey Baby and it’s been on the Shazam charts of India for a month already.

ELLE: What’s your all-time favourite track from your own stable?

DV: I can never pick a favourite track of our own, it’s like choosing between your children!

ELLE: Is there a DJ you really want to collaborate with?

DV: Our partner in crime this weekend, Marshmello has been doing some amazing work, it would be cool to work with him.

ELLE: There’s been one hit single after another but never a complete album; can we expect one out anytime soon?

DV: There will be one but not anytime soon.

ELLE: What’s your favourite Indian food?

DV: I love mutton rogan josh, whenever I go to an Indian restaurant that’s basically what I order every time.

ELLE: Is there an upcoming DJ you really love?

DV: Lost frequencies.
