Supermodel Irina Shayk’s guide to losing weight and getting fit

Irina Shayk gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Lea de Seine, with partner Bradley Cooper earlier this year, but you wouldn’t know it based on her latest Instagram photo.

The 31-year-old Russian model, who is the face (and body) of the lingerie brand Intimissimi, shared a sexy mirror selfie on Instagram modelling some pieces from the brand, but all people could focus on was her incredible post-baby shape.

While Shayk hasn’t revealed her post-baby diet and fitness routine, she has spoken about how she maintains her figure in the past, which provides insight into how she looks so good just months after having a baby.

Shayk’s Diet

Shayk told Women’s Health that she’s one of those enviable women with ‘great genes to thank for [her] fast metabolism’.

While her metabolism allows her to enjoy big meals that include ‘a huge burger with cheese, French fries, lots of ketchup and mayo and a large Sprite,’ she revealed her pre-shoot diet consists of ‘particularly clean’ foods, like salads and soups, to ensure her stomach stays flat.

She also balances out big blow-out meals with modest ones, like steamed fish and grilled vegetables.

But it seems her favourite foods are the ones she grew up with. ‘When I was growing up in Russia, my grandmothers would cook the best pancakes in the world, the best meatballs, the best dumplings,’ she told People. ‘So I really, really love food. And I don’t understand how people don’t eat. I do eat everything.’

Shayk’s Fitness

Even though she’s been blessed with genes most people would kill for, Shayk has thankfully revealed her intense workout regimen, proving she still works for her body.

‘I work out a lot. I do boxing, I do a little jiu jitsu which I am obsessed with,’ she told People.

She elaborated on her obsession with jiu jitsu, saying, ‘Because there’s so many possible move combinations, it’s brilliant for constantly challenging my body and pushing it to exhaustion every time.’ She aims to do it four times a week when she’s home in New York.

…. it’s almost that time of the year again…

Shayk also had a great tip for working out while travelling, saying she focuses ‘on simple barre moves that don’t need any equipment and really work my arms and bum.’

And despite telling Women’s Health, ‘I hate traditional cardio. Running is my worst nightmare,’ she said in another interview with Yahoo, ‘Cardio’s always good. It makes you sweat, it’s the best,’ adding that she sometimes tags a run to the end of a one-hour workout session.

Another way Shayk ensures she can exercise wherever she is, is by travelling with her kit and sticking to athleisure-inspired looks when she’s out.

Having a little one makes finding the time to exercise a little more difficult, but based on Shayk’s post-baby body, whatever time she’s getting is working.
