To be unveiled today, the mural is the brainchild of the Bollywood Art Project (BAP), helmed by Ranjit Dahiya. BAP has previously painted murals of other Bollywood superstars such as Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor on various buildings in the city. Sridevi’s mural stands next to paintings of two other talented actors, Madhubala and Anarkali. What makes the tribute all the more fitting is the fact that Sridevi herself was fond of painting. According to media reports, a painting by her hangs in husband Boney Kapoor’s office, and before her untimely demise, she was to auction her paintings of Sonam Kapoor and Michael Jackson, for charity.

Sridevi tragically passed away in Dubai, where she had travelled for a family wedding. Speaking of her mom’s untimely passing, Janhvi Kapoor admitted that the tragedy brought her entire family together, including half-siblings Arjun and Anshula Kapoor, Boney Kapoor’s children from his first wife, Mona.

The Dhadak star said, “It’s made us feel safe and secure. I think, even for Papa, it’s a source of comfort. It’s definitely tied us together. We’ve lost mom and I don’t think that’s a loss any of us will ever get over.”
