GoT fans, get your hands on Johnnie Walker’s new limited-edition whisky

To know who Daenerys Targaryen or Jon Snow is, you don’t need to have watched the cult TV series, Game of Thrones (GoT). Its popular characters and catchphrases pervaded pop culture in a big way. For instance, US President Donald Trump recently tweeted a meme with his photograph and text which read, ‘The Wall is Coming’, a spin on GoT’s first episode, ‘Winter is Coming’. And this wasn’t the first time Trump made a GoT reference, problematic as it is. Closer home, cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara has been nicknamed White Walker by his teammates for his stoic nature while batting, after the much-feared GoT creatures.

White Walker now gets a new interpretation, courtesy Johnnie Walker. Even as GoT fans gear up for the eighth and final season, Johnnie Walker has introduced a special, limited-edition scotch whisky. Everything from the packaging to the flavour is inspired by the Frozen North. Sip on the scotch and notes of caramelised sugar and vanilla, fresh red berries with orchard fruit will tingle your senses. It features Single Malts from Cardhu and Clynelish – one of Scotland’s most Northern distilleries. True to its icy inspiration, the White Walker is best savoured when served directly from the freezer.

The bottle’s white and blue design will remind you of the White Walkers, and incorporates the iconic Johnnie Walker Striding Man, in a look that blends in with the ranks of the Night King’s forces. Thanks to a unique temperature-sensitive ink technology, you will be reminded that ‘Winter is here’ from an unexpected graphic reveal on the bottle when frozen.

The White Walker has been created by whisky specialist George Harper and a team of expert blenders at Johnnie Walker. Harper’s starting point and inspiration was the Frozen North. “Whiskies from Clynelish have endured long, Scottish winters, not dissimilar to the long periods endured by the Night’s Watch who have ventured north of the wall — so it was the perfect place to start when creating this unique whisky,” he says.

This weekend, settle down, pour yourself a glass of White Walker and tune into re-runs of Game of Thrones. Supplies still stocks last.
