Bottega Veneta’s Tokyo store is set to be your new favourite shopping destination

Say ‘konnichiwa’ to Bottega Veneta’s biggest flagship store in Asia. Launched last weekend in Tokyo, Japan, it is your best bet for signature outfits, handbags, shoes, fragrance and jewellery from the Italian luxury label.

But it’s not just about fashion. You can also get your hands on Bottega Veneta’s home and furniture collection at the same massive store that is spread over six storeys. The luxury Italian brand drew inspiration from Japan’s traditions to design the interiors. The linear pattern of the natural oak flooring is inspired by Tamo, a local species of ash tree that produces a rare, precious wood with a distinctive grain. Display tables at the pale-hued, minimalist space are made with hammered oak that has a unique honeycomb texture — a custom finish inspired by traditional Japanese workmanship.

Traditional Italian and Japanese design sensibilities offset each other to create a one-of-a-kind experience. Other materials utilised throughout the store include teppei-seki, a Japanese slate used in architecture in the late Edo period, along with various types of Italian marble such as Persian Red travertine that are signature to Bottega Veneta. The store’s façade echoes the iconic intrecciato weave, which has been created with over 900 silvery square metal panels. The weave appears to dissolve to create openings for the windows and front entrance.

If you find yourself in Ginza, make your way to the store—it’s a veritable visual treat.
