Deepika Padukone’s Cannes look is anything but affordable

If you thought Deepika Padukone’s Cannes look was adorably accessible, you’d be, well… almost right. Because you’re probably missing the accessories that turn this high street white T-shirt and jeans combo into a high budget production. A careful look at the deceptively understated bling that the Bollywood star is rocking on her left hand and you’ll realise that the L’Oreal Paris brand ambassador has a spending habit that includes plenty of Cartier.

Like her buddy Anushka Sharma, who routinely teams her heavy-duty Audemars Piguet Royal Oak (approximately Rs 39.7 lakh) with Cartier’s famous Juste Un Clou bracelet that costs a cool Rs 4.5 lakh (approx), Deepika layered her yellow gold nail-shaped accessory with Cartier’s famous Love bracelet that costs Rs 4.2 lakh approximately.

Sported by celebrities from Angelina Jolie to the Kardashian sisters, the bracelet has a compelling back story that makes it a must-have for the luxury shopper. The bracelet was designed in the shape of an oval in order to fit as closely as possible to a loved one’s wrist, and it was intended to be worn by both men and women. They were referred to as ‘modern love handcuffs’ for the way in which they are secured using a screwdriver. It was the first piece that the designer Aldo Cipullo created for Cartier. He went on to design the brand’s iconic Juste un Clou “nail” bracelets too.

Legend has it that some hospitals in New York City keep Love bracelet screwdrivers on hand in case they need to remove the pieces from patients in an emergency.

So tell us again how you thought this was just your casual T-shirt and jeans combo?
