How to rock head-to-toe colour this season

Create a powerful look via the monochrome route

Gucci went full-bore fuchsia, Versace dreamt entirely in yellow and the designers at Jil Sander, Marni, Valentino and Blumarine all sent out single-colour looks — international Spring/Summer 2017 runways resembled a Pantone shade card come eye-poppingly to life. And prepare for eyes to pop if you take the monochrome route.

This look is a power move and not for the shrinking wallflower. The first rule is to keep things clean and minimal. Second, remember that strong colours stand out gorgeously when you play with contrasting textures, like by mixing something shiny with something matte. Finally, layer intelligently. A sheer jacket over an asymmetric dress? Now that’s how you do matchy-matchy.
