Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week continued its stylish momentum; there might have been a few misses, but there were also a lot of hits. It was a day of designer duos – while Dev r Nil’s matching outfits tickled our funny bone, Pankaj & Nidhi made an impact with their popsicle-hued collection to close the day. Click through for a glimpse of our favourite moments from the day.
Eka by Rina Singh
Eka’s scalloped hemlines, soft silhouettes and sorbet shades layered with delicate necklaces were enough to win our hearts, but her song selection, ‘Hey Beau’ by Dillon (see below), was the icing on the cake.
When it comes to Indian wear, we take comfort in classic styles with updated silhouettes, and Kavita Bhartia provided just that; think, the high and low kurta with trousers. The right amount of zardozi, and pastel shades like mint green and pinks, kept the outfits summer-friendly.
Gauri & Nainika
The sisters showcased a collection that highlighted global warming, using images of smoking chimneys and cars in a junkyard as their prints. But the minimal styles – like the full skirt and cropped top – are what really made an impression.
Beauty: Pankaj & Nidhi
Pankaj & Nidhi are getting us all psyched to party, with this glittery winged eyeliner at their show.
péro by Aneeth Arora
Aneeth Arora’s garden set already made an impression on us on Day 1, and then we wandered into her stall. Green grass, watering cans, potted basil that people could take away, and of course, the collection that was ready for viewing. Arora told us she wanted to have an open stall so people could feel free to walk in and out of it any time, but she didn’t get the necessary permission.
Payal Pratap went glocal, giving the Prairie girl an Indian makeover by using Indian fabrics like jamdani for peasant dresses. The pixelated and mosaic-printed skirts, embroidered sheath dresses, gathered hems and peasant-shaped sleeves in bright shades made it difficult to single out a favourite – we’d like the entire collection.
Dev r Nil
The designer duo was spotted wearing similar printed trousers. Dev told us that although he had planned to wear it the day after, Nil insisted that they both wear it on the same day. And Marvin D’Souza was able to capture the moment on Instagram. Adorable.

Pankaj & Nidhi
The husband-wife designer duo’s latest line brought a touch of new to the old. There was a mash-up of retro silhouettes like high-waist shorts, full skirts, cropped tees and cape dresses with detailed silk thread work for a lace-like feel, and old beadwork and multi-pastel appliqué that resembled period furniture, flooring and ceramics. Between the intricate details and the popsicle hues, Pankaj & Nidhi’s collection is made for the summer wardrobe.
Day two saw an influx of the well-heeled – and we were there to document it. Folk singer Kuvelü Tetseo matched her minidress (so ’60s!) with Bata boat shoes, and made her way to the top of our list of favourite street-style looks for the day.
