Have you seen United Colors of Benetton’s thought-provoking Fall/Winter ’18 campaign?

If there’s one theme that’s trending globally in fashion, it’s diversity. From plus-sized models and transgender models walking the ramp to the Supreme Court repealing section 377 and decriminalising homosexuality, the fashion industry is becoming #wokeAF. United Colors of Benetton’s Fall/Winter ’18 campaign is another example that aims to show how diversity in human faces and bodies gives a new meaning to colours, relationships and fashion.

Visualised and directed by United Colors of Benetton’s art director and creative mastermind, Oliviero Toscani, the campaign is imbibed with positivity. “When you look at fashion imagery, you see anorexic models trying to conform to society’s ideals of beauty. But it should reflect joy and hope. That’s what I was inspired by… people who are happy, hopeful, enthusiastic and open to love,” says Oliviero.
