“Maybe she’s about to die”

Spanish artist Yolanda Dominguez has lampooned fashion’s representation of women in the past too, but this time she takes aim using the Internet’s most potent weapon: cuteness. In this video, she captures children’s reactions to the print campaigns of various brands like Alexander Wang, Balmain, Miu Miu and Hugo Boss, besides one or two magazine spreads. The kids explain what they think is happening in the picture or what the model might be feeling. While they perceive all the female models to be in some kind of trouble—fighting, stressed, passed out on the street—they see the men as heroes, bosses, and generally as people with a little more dignity. Not sure this is Louis Vuitton’s target audience, but point taken.
