If you’re done draping saris the traditional way, designer Sanjukta Dutta would like you to have a look at her Mehkela Chador collection at Lakme Fashion Week.
Asamese fashion found expression on the ramp with the traditional Mehkela Chador taking centrestage. Motifs flew fast and fierce, with the Singkhap (royal lions facing off against each other) and the Kolki (paisley) standing out. The rich jewel tones were brought to life in mulberry silk and textured Tussar. Oh, and everyone’s favourite dimpled beauty Preity Zinta returned to the ramp after a long time-out in a gold-motifed sari adorned with a temple border.
