Our favourite literary characters find new life
Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy will now get a fourth book. Swedish author David Lagercrantz, a journalist just like Larsson, has been tasked with bringing Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist out of retirement and back to old tricks in a new story that is slated for a 2015 release, fittingly on the 10th anniversary of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
The Ian Fleming estate entrusted British novelist William Boyd with James Bond’s latest adventure. Boyd has the sexy spy travelling to war-torn Africa in the late ’60s to neutralise a rebel leader. His 007 is slick as ever, but with some semblance of an inner life too (he reads Graham Greene and ponders the frailty of life).
