Here’s How Bollywood Is Wearing Holographic And Iridescent Fashion

Holographic

Fun and futuristic, the holographic fashion trend has seeped into our trend cycle all thanks to its OTT quotient. While the blinding eccentricities may ward most of us mortals off, a few experimental Bollywood celebrities have successfully tamed the trend, creating pared down versions that are relatively replicable.

From Kriti Sanon and Bhumi Pednekar to Janhvi Kapoor, the shimmer laced holographic trend surely does warrant some of our attention for successfully swaying us to the glam corner. Let’s take a look at how these celebrities have styled the trend.

Kriti Sanon

Donning internationally acclaimed label Kanika Goyal, the iridescent bomber and bodycon set is a fun little Y2K throwback owing to its bratz-like styling and slicked back hair. Albeit the pattern runs throughout the piece, there’s this sense of order that liberates it from going overboard aesthetically.

Janhvi Kapoor

Making a solid case for mermaid-core with an interplay of iridescent tie-dye, Janhvi Kapoor’s penchant to take things up a notch is no news. Whimsical and ethereal, stylist Priyanka Kapadia sure knows how to work her magic.

Tamannaah Bhatia

Space Age called, they want their dutiful residents back! Fashioning this Dolce and Gabbana piece rooted in futurism, the sculptural and tailored fit make it a clear standout. With a corset-like bustier and sharp panelling, the garment construction team is the real MVP here.

Bhumi Pednekar

For ELLE India’s very own sustainability awards, Bhumi Pednekar’s custom mesh sari from Bloni was made from recycled metal that can be melted and regenerated further. Lending a distinctive spin on this holographic shimmer trend, this one’s our favourite on the list.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

For the finale of Lakmé Fashion Week, Kareena Kapoor turned showstopper for Monisha Jaising in a floor-length, accordion pleated holographic gown back in 2018. Could one credit this specific moment in Bollywood’s timeline as the reason this trend skyrocketed in the mainstream market? I think we very much can. The Bebo factor was also a big add-on, no doubt.
