Open Pores, Fine Lines And Superficial Wrinkles: These 8 Serums Are Great For Mature Skin

Mature skin

Move over anti-aging, because we’re all for pro-aging. This new-age concept of accepting yourself the way you are is a very welcome change and its goal is not to look younger, but to be the best version of yourself, at any age. The fact remains though that we’d all like to age gracefully and if it is possible to delay those age spots, fine lines and wrinkles for a while longer, then why shouldn’t we? Again, it’s a personal choice. But if it’s a choice you’re making, you’ll want to know what you can do best for your mature skin.

We spoke to Dr. Niranjana Raj, Co-Founder at Yogiraj Centre for Dermatology and Cosmetology in Bangalore and Trivandrum, who says, “Mature skin is skin that shows the signs of aging. It tends to looks dull and drier with more open pores, fine lines and superficial wrinkles and can also have hyperpigmentation and age spots becoming slowly more noticeable.”

She adds that the first signs of aging start becoming apparent on the surface of the skin from around the age of 25, and its progress depends on genetics as well as environmental factors. “UV-induced damage, lack of sleep and exercise, stress, smoking and excessive alcohol intake acts as contributing factors,” she says and suggests starting with a good skincare regimen along with sun protection between 25-28 years, before fine lines start appearing.

This skincare regimen can also include serums that delay the signs of aging. In case you’re confused about which ingredients you should look for in a serum for mature skin, Dr Niranjana advises, “Retinol, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C are considered as some of the star ingredients when it comes to antiaging serums. Other ingredients like glycolic acid, niacinamide, ferulic acid, alpha hydroxy acids and ceramides also have great antiaging and skin brightening benefits.”

We’ve shortlisted serums for mature skin for you across budgets, so go ahead and take your pick:
