Over the decades, Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan have somehow managed to be that rock-solid couple that doesn’t make everyone in their vicinity want to cringe with their over-the-top PDA. They may not talk about each other using superlatives, but they get the message across loud and clear. Recently, when SRK held an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Instagram, a fan asked him why he got married early on in life. To which Shah Rukh Khan responded, “Bhai love aur luck kabhi bhi aajate hain. So both came early with Gauri”. Basically implying that Gauri was the lady luck who turned his life around. Just the kind of answer we’d expect from the ‘king of romance’.
SRK and Gauri got hitched in 1991, after being in a relationship for six years. The debutant actor was nowhere close to causing the sexual awakening of millions of women (and some men). Ever since, they’ve been enjoyed a stable marriage in an industry where relationships are notorious for falling apart quicker than you can say paparazzi.
But until recently, both Shah Rukh and Gauri kept their social media feeds full of work-related promos, photos with industry colleagues, and adorable pictures of their kids Aryan, Suhana and AbRam. Since Akash Ambani’s engagement, where we noticed the first couple of Bollywood indulging in unprecedented PDA, SRK has clearly begun to wear his heart… on his Instagram. He captioned a recent image, ‘After years the wife has allowed me to post a pic I have taken…she’s all heart!’.
Keeping in line with their personalities, the photograph was cute without being mushy. Then, there was this Twitter RT, in typical SRK humour:

While none of this is going to put any honeymooning couple to shame, it definitely reflects a relationship based on mutual respect. Shah Rukh’s tongue-in-cheek retweet could have only been done by a couple secure in each other’s company. Which is basically a template for a successful marriage. Nurturing a family is possibly one of the world’s toughest jobs — perhaps even tougher than ruling Bollywood since the mid-1990s. And raising three children can’t have been easy, an army of domestic staff notwithstanding. Recently, SRK also acknowledged Gauri’s role in being the Khan family’s backbone with a Twitter post.
Was reading and came across this line….’ Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a mother ‘ and then this picture of the ladies…sach hi hai!! pic.twitter.com/sk0CwIMoMP

Given this new development, we’re keeping our eyes peeled for the next social media update by Shah Rukh Khan. But if it’s not a new Gauri picture, we won’t be too disappointed. After all, in a world where we’re used to over-sharing every inane detail of our life, (relationships, included), a little privacy is actually sexy.
