8 new restaurants to try in Mumbai

Bored of the usual haunts? Check out the new hotspots on the Mumbai food circuit. (Rather drink at home? Dial in cocktails from your favourite haunts.)

Bar Bar
Pre-gaming at this new watering hole at Phoenix Market City is always a good idea. Their wholesale pricing strategy means the more you drink, the lesser you pay. They’ll even sort you out with nibbles like vada pav popcorn and samosa toasties. Tel: 022 6180 1501

Genuine Broaster Chicken
This hot new Versova diner offers a mouthwatering array of interesting dishes for meat-lovers. With the tagline ‘American food with an Indian heart’, expect juicy juxtaposes such as the Rogan Josh burger and the Penne Punjabi. Tel: +91 8291 002 847

KOKO
Spread across 3,500 square feet in Kamala Mills, KOKO is a new project by the Tham brothers (you might be familiar with their other dig: The Good Wife). They’ve roped in renowned mixologist Dimi Lezinska – he’s done cocktails at Cannes and Oscar parties, and hosts a Discovery Channel show – to put together a spectacular cocktail menu. Settle down for a couple of Tom Yum cocktails at their 100-foot-long island bar. Tel: 022 6105 3939

Mirabella
This quaint European-style café and restobar in Andheri is a pocket of calm in the bustle. We are in love with their refreshing botanical decor, and diverse menu serving vegan choices alongside indulgent desserts. Tel: 022 3015 1598

Three Chicks And A Bear
This cute little place in Lower Parel, run by the lovely family behind Theobroma, serves up a gorgeous feast of burgers, freakshakes and starters alongside a delectable array of homemade sauces. Their Israeli salted tenderloin burger is not for the faint of heart – it’s loaded with eggs, crispy bacon, and buffalo patty. Tel: +91 82912 72042

Raasta
The Hauz Khas hit can now be found off SV Road in Khar. It’s got a strong Rastafarian aesthetic (good vibes only). Stick to the beer and burgers. Tel: +91 98181 02392

Thyme Bistro
Make a pit stop at this new dig in Powai after your 9-to-5. The global menu covers fusion food (misal fondue, anyone?) spicy bar bites, Pan Asian favourites (khow suey and dim sums too!), and Mediterranean sharing platters. A little bit of everything. Bonus? Efficient service. Tel: +91 80802 80000
