While you wait for the next anticipated theatrical release, keep yourself entertained with a bunch of interesting new releases on OTT platforms this October. From much-anticipated superhero series, and gripping action films to nail-biting dramas and sports docu-series, here are the new shows and films to watch in the first half of the month.
1. Loki Season 2
The wait is finally over! The God of Mischief returns to your screen and has lots to figure out after the shocking end of the first season. Picking up from the aftermath, Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority in the second season. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15, and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous Multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes, and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.

2. Khufiya
Vishal Bharadwaj is back with yet another film adapted from a book. Based on writer Amar Bhushan’s espionage novel Escape To Nowhere, Khufiya features Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi and Ali Fazal. Its plot? Research and Analysis Wing officer Krishna Mehta (Tabu) is assigned the task of tracking down a mole in their office that is selling the country’s defence secrets.

3. Beckham
This one’s for all the football fans. This new four-part docu-series takes you behind the scenes of the legendary footballer David Beckham’s life. It features a mixture of never-before-seen personal archive footage from the last forty years, high highs and lows, candid current-day moments, and interviews with the family, friends, and footballing figures who have been part of his journey.

4. Mumbai Diaries 2
If you’re into medical dramas, watch Mumbai Diaries. While the first season of the hit series told the story of a medical team that dealt with the aftermath of the shocking 26/11 attacks, season 2 deals with floods. The same team of doctors played by actors Konkana Sen Sharma, Mohit Raina, and Tina Desai, among others, will return in the new instalment.

5. Asteroid City
2023 is the year of filmmaker Wes Anderson with so many of his films being released this year. In fact, even the Wes Anderson aesthetic–his signature use of pastel hues with vintage tones–was trending on Instagram for the longest time. The filmmaker’s Asteroid City, which was released in theatres last month, now makes its way to OTT. The filmmaker is known for his use of eccentricity and unique visuals and storytelling coupled with frequent use of ensemble casts. Asteroid City is no different. The film follows world-changing events spectacularly disrupting the itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention in a fictional American desert town in 1955.

6. Lupin Part 3
Another season, another heist. France’s most wanted gentleman thief Assane Diop (Omar Sy) returns to Paris for yet another heist, though he is on the run. And he is planning a bold and daring stunt–one that’s a solid 12 out of 10 on the dangerous scale. But he isn’t afraid to do it. The trailer shows him warning the cops of his motive to rob the black pearl, which he accomplishes. But the events take a different turn when possibly another thief kidnaps Diop’s mother and will only let her go in exchange for the pearl. What will Diop do? You’ll have to watch to find out.

7. Joy Ride
Looking for a film to enjoy over the weekend with your girl gang? Add Joy Ride to your watchlist. The official synopsis reads, “These girls just wanna have fun! Packed with comedy, drama and some NSFW instances, Joy Ride follows Audrey Sullivan on a path to self-discovery. When Audrey’s business trip to Asia goes wrong, she calls on her childhood bestie, Lolo, her college friend Kat and Lolo’s eccentric cousin Deadeye for help. Stranded in a country with nowhere to go, this wild squad embarks on a journey of utter chaos and debauchery that unveils their true loving selves. 8. Fair Play
Set in New York City, Fair Play revolves around the lives of two individuals working at the same hedge-fund firm, who are also in a secret relationship. Shortly after their engagement to one another, one of them gets an unexpected promotion, which alters the dynamic of their relationship significantly. The film explores themes of love, power dynamics, gender roles and stressful and uneasy conversations around shared finances within a relationship.

9. Sultan Of Delhi
This action series follows the life of Arjun Bhatia and explores greed, betrayal, courage and the ultimate fight for power. The official synopsis reads, “Recreating the magic of the vintage era of the 60’s, Sultan Of Delhi follows the story of Arjun Bhatia (Tahir Raj Bhasin), who works with Delhi’s biggest illegal arms dealer, Jagan Seth (Vinay Pathak). In a high-stakes battle for power, Arjun is tested time and again by those around him. Fuelled by ambition and his calling to become the Sultan Of Delhi, Arjun must navigate a treacherous landscape to emerge victorious, where there is no stopping him and vengeance is unleashed.”

10. Kushi
Looking for a mushy romantic film? Watch Kushi featuring South Indian stars Vijay Devrakonda and Samantha Prabhu. The film is about the love story of two individuals who come from different religious backgrounds and their families are rivals. However, they decide to pursue their relationship despite that. With moments of affection mixed with differences and fights, their relationship takes you on a roller coaster of emotions–much like every other relationship. If this is something you relate to, then add Kushi to your watch list this month.
