Every year I make a to-do list for myself. Of the things I would like to change, of the habits I’d like to develop and even though it’s mostly for novelty now, there’s one thing that always tends to find a way in my list. To be bolder, to take more chances. And it’s always heartwarming and inspiring to witness the celebrities take risks and channel their fearless selves. As we get ready to wrap up the year that has been an overall treat for the beauty industry, it’s time we look back and on the moments when the celebs stood out with their boldest and edgiest looks.

Doja Cat

At the annual fundraising gala where this year’s theme was “Karl Lagerfeld: The Line of Beauty”, Gen Z icon Doja Cat showed up dressed as a literal cat. More specifically, Karl’s pet Burmese, Choupette. The musician had prosthetically buffed up her facial features to make it realistic and that just goes to show her commitment to the look.

Doja is no stranger to setting trends, from her songs like “Say So”, “Kiss Me More” and “Paint the Town Red” blowing up to become viral on TikTok and Instagram to her bold fashion statements on the red carpet with the Heven and Coperni glass bag while accepting her first Grammy and covering her body in 30,000 crimson Swarovski crystals for the Schiaparelli spring 2023 couture show, she has proved time and again that she is many things but conventional is not one of them.

Megan Fox

Meghan Fox is not one to mess with when it comes to Halloween. From ’Jennifer’s Body’ to ‘New Girl’, if there’s one thing that has stayed the same is Fox’s ability to stun. While SAG-AFTRA, the actors union “guidelines” asked members not to promote “struck work” (i.e. characters made by the studios), the actor did receive backlash for dressing up as a character from Quentin Tarantino’s 2003 movie, Kill Bill. Not sure about sweat but she definitely put the blood and tears into this look.

Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor is like that one friend in the group that will always serve a look, no matter how casual or formal the occasion. Dressed in McQueen, with makeup to match the intensity, she’s channeling Morticia Adams and it is positively sensational.

Lady Gaga

With lots of thick eyeliner, layers of blush and a neon, bright red, glossy lip, the Poker face singer is giving ‘more is more’ and we are here for it. Inspired by the iconic Addicted to Love music video, the look is definitely giving 80’s glam.

Sobhita Dhulipala

While all of us were busy lusting after Tara Khanna’s wardrobe from Maid In Heaven, Sobhita showed us that it’s not just her character who knows can make every head turn in a room. With gel-styled hair, a classic red lip and dramatic contouring, she looks like the picture of ‘fierce’.

Masie Williams

The Game of Thrones actress has been known to experiment with stunning hair cuts and colours but this time she truly knocked it out of the park combining her coquettecore hair accessories with gothic bold, dark lips.

Paloma Elsesser

The ‘Model of the Year’ pulled all the stops at the British Fashion Awards and it shows. With her unevenly chopped micro bangs, angled brows and the 90’s glossy brown lips, she’s giving Bratz living in a Barbie world and it is surely refreshing.

Priyanka Chopra

The global icon is nothing if not adventurous. Her presence never goes unnoticed and how could it, when she shows up leaving no stone unturned in a stunning blue dress with the dramatic flair suited for a star such as her. At the first screening of Citadel in Mumbai, PC graced the carpet featuring luminous skin paired with awe-spiring smoky eyes. I think it’s safe to say the make-up artist understood the assignment.

Sydney Sweeny

The Euphoria actress celebrated her 26th birthday with a party of our dreams. With the theme being ’80s prom’, Sweeny was obviously the star of the night, dolled up in a satin pink mini dress with larger-than-life rose shoulder puffs and 80’s inspired big hairdo and makeup, it must be said, she looks like she’s never ever been happier!

Emma Chamberlain

The it girl of YouTube has also become the it girl of the fashion industry, and rightfully so. She has had a major style evolution and is now a part of most people’s Pinterest boards. This look with bewitching blue-green eye shadow and concealed brows is undoubtedly part of the reason of the upcoming frosted blue eye shadow trend.
