1. Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts

Potterheads, it’s time to rejoice! The very first day of the new year brings a special episode on the most iconic series, Harry Potter. The iconic trio Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, along with other cast members, and filmmakers are reuniting to celebrate 20 years of the series. Our post-NYE party plan is all set!

2. RRR

Marking their first collaboration with SS Rajamouli, Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt will feature alongside South stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the filmmaker’s magnum opus. Set in the 1920s, RRR follows a fictitious story based on legendary freedom fighters Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem.

3. Euphoria Season 2

The gripping and controversial teen drama returns to our screen this January. The plot line follows a group of high school students through their experiences of sex, drugs, friendships, love, identity, and trauma. The second instalment focuses more on the life of Rue (Zendaya) who returns to rehab with a mysterious suitcase and reunites with Jules (Hunter Schafer). We can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!

4. How I Met Your Father

Brace yourself for this legen… (wait for it) …dary show! How I Met Your Father is a series based on the sitcom of a similar name. Making her TV return, Hillary Duff plays the lead character of modern-day, love-lost Sophie who’s on a mission to find herself The One. And if you’re still missing Samantha Jones in the ongoing SATC reboot, don’t worry. You’ll see Kim Cattrall play the future version of the lead character, who tells the story. Exciting, isn’t it?

5. Gehraiyaan

Directed by Shakun Batra, this romance-drama film evolves around the subject of love and friendship versus one’s ambition, goals, and struggles with an interesting cast–Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa. From the mini teasers that are already released, this looks like an emotional watch, so we’ll be ready with some popcorn and our tissue boxes!

6. Gangubai Kathiawadi

This film stars Alia Bhatt playing the titular lead and marks her first-ever collaboration with Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie is based on a chapter from Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai that is about a woman named, Gangubai Kothewali.

7. Unchartered

Fan of the Unchartered video game? Then you’ll surely love to watch its adaption as a film on the big screen! Starring Tom Holland as treasure hunter Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Victor “Sully” Sullivan, Drake’s partner and mentor (what a dynamic combo, right?), the action adventure is one of the most anticipated movies of 2022!

8. The Batman

While the debate of who the best Batman is still goes on till today, we’re coming out and saying that we’re quite eager to watch Robert Pattinson take on the role of the beloved DC Caped Crusader, following the footsteps of Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, George Clooney and others. In fact, Zoe Kravitz who plays Catwoman in the upcoming film even praised her co-star’s performance saying he’s “incredible,” “perfect for this role” and “his transformation was out of this world.”

9. The Lost City

Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Bradd Pitt and Daniel Radcliffe–we’re not taking random celebrity names. This cool bunch is all set to star in rom-com, action adventure titled The Lost City! The plot? Author Loretta Sage (Sandra) is known for writing about exotic places in her popular romance-adventure novels featuring the handsome cover model Alan (Channing), who loves to embody the hero character, Dash IRL. When Loretta and Alan set out to promote her new book, she is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire (Daniel) so that she can lead him to the ancient lost city’s treasure from her latest story. Wanting to prove that he can be a hero in real life, Alan sets off to rescue Loretta. The duo work together to survive the obstacles and find the ancient treasure before it’s lost forever in this jungle adventure.

10. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

The Wizarding World is back in form in the new year! Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore picks up from where it was left off in the second film–it hints at an all-out war between the wizards and muggles! Being the centrepiece in the 5-part movie series, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore features Jude Law as the young Albus Dumbledore who forms a team to take down Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen, who’s replacing Johnny Depp) as his power grows exponentially. And of course you’ll see your fav Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, who joins in too to battle it out against Grindelwald.

Loved Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s on-screen pairing in 3 Idiots? Then get ready to watch the duo again in this heartwarming movie, which is a Bollywood remake of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump with Tom Hanks.

12. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

If you’ve watched the latest Spider-Man film, you must have waited for the second end scene credit, right? ICYMI, it gave us a sneak peak into Marvel’s next anticipated film–Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The teaser portrays how the Multiverse spell Strange cast didn’t go too well and now he’s left to fix things. But here’s what got us excited–the teaser featured an Evil Doctor Strange! Yup, you read that right! A battle been the good and evil one is going to be a treat to watch for all us MCU fans!

13. The Crown Season 5

One of the most anticipated shows depicting the life of the British Royal family will finally return in 2022. The last season aired in 2020, and fans of the show have been waiting for the final instalment ever since then. The Crown Season 5 (which is also the final season) features an all new cast–Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana (who’s a spitting image of the princess!) and Dominic West as Prince Charles.

14. House Of The Dragon

Although many Game Of Thrones fans were unhappy with the ending, there’s a lot of anticipation for its prequel House Of The Dragon. It is set 200 years before the events of the parent show. Its focus: the mad, incestuous House Targaryen, brought to life by a cast that includes Matt Smith from The Crown playing a member of a dysfunctional royal family (yet, again!)

Slated to release in 2022; the release date is yet to be confirmed

15. Peaky Blinders Season 6

Tommy Shelby and co are all set to grace our screen in early 2022. The trailer is set to drop on New Year’s Day, so save the date to watch it!
