5 Dupes To Fill The Void Left By Our Discontinued Beauty Favourites

dupe

There’s nothing more disheartening than our cult favourite beauty products being discontinued. A few have been lying on my vanity for a decade as I reminisce about the days I could restock them without thinking twice. Even though they’ve outlived their shelf life, I’m always scrambling for their remains.

While we’d love for the discontinued favourites to make a comeback, that sounds like a distant dream. Fortunately, after days of hunting, I have found similar products of some of the most sought-after products that won’t hurt your pocket and will hopefully find a place in your vanity.

So here’s a list of the products that we miss dearly and a dupe available to fill their place:

Nyx Eyeshadow Roll On Shimmer

Why we can’t get over it: As a teenager, I used to swear by these multi-use roll-on shimmer sticks. These were my absolute go-to products to channel my inner Barbie. Infused with an intense, glamourous shimmer and silky formulation, it glides on effortlessly. The roll-on was not only super easy to use but also one of the best travel-friendly products to fit in your carry-on.

Dupe available: e.l.f Cosmetics Liquid Eyeshadow

These highly pigmented eyeshadows are absolutely gorgeous! The mini tube will last you for days without drying up. I love to use this, especially on the inner corner of my eyes, for a pop of glitter on days where I’m running late for an event.

Maybelline Dream Urban Cover Foundation

Why we can’t get over it: For my everyday wear, this was one of the best medium-coverage foundations that I used till the very end. It was well suited to my skin type, as it didn’t enhance my dry patches. It had a lightweight formulation that was buildable and would last you throughout the day. As someone who’d leave the house without reapplying sunscreen, this would always come in handy.

Dupe available: L’Oreal Truematch Foundation

True to its name, this product is indeed one of the best foundations available giving you the very glow you need on gloomy days. The lightweight formulation acts as a second skin, perfect for your no-makeup, makeup days.

Smashbox Photofinish Radiance Primer

Why we can’t get over it: This primer has been the ‘IT GIRL’  product for years before it was discontinued. The satin-smooth formula illuminates, perfects, and enhances radiance while hydrating the skin. It was easy to apply and didn’t clog your pores. The YouTube beauty gurus rave about this radiant primer till today.

Dupe available: Makeup Revolution Prime Bright Brightening Primer

Coming in close second, is the primer that provides a perfect makeup base with a glow finish. Enriched with vitamin C, this boosts your skin’s radiance. Keeping your makeup in place all day, this primer does it all.

Essence “All About Sunrise” Eyeshadow Palatte

Why we can’t get over it: This eyeshadow palette was an absolute steal. The shades were easy to blend and control. Highly pigmented and with a reflective finish, it had a buttery texture. The warm, golden-toned neutral shades were perfect for everyday wear. This travel-friendly product would last for months.

Dupe Available: Wet N Wild Colour Icon 10 Pan Eyeshadow Palette in Call Me Sunshine

This 10-pan eyeshadow palette won’t break your bank. With the Essence palette being discontinued, this comes in a close second in terms of its highly pigmented and blendable shades.

Lakme 9-5 Red Chaos Lip Colour

Why we can’t get over it: This was my mother’s favourite lipstick shade, which she raves about to this very day. This particular shade was always sought-after and sold out. Along with its matte finish, this formula was enriched with vitamin E, which would hydrate the lips.

Dupe Available: Maybelline New York Colour Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick – 680 Mesmorising Magenta

This sensational creamy matte lipstick is the closest match available on the affordable side. The perfect matte lipstick for your daytime wear, enriched with shea butter, it keeps your lips moisturised for 12 hours.
