The hall that hosted Varun Bahl’s AICW 2015 show brimmed with roses, which hung in clusters from the ceilings, among chandeliers. This aesthetic was reflected in the gowns as well, which were adorned with glittering rose-motif embroidery, in hues of pink and red. Bahl worked largely within a classic lehenga silhouette: fitted tops with intricate lace gave way to full skirts dotted with posies. He worked with a cream base palette on silk chanderi, with a few standout pieces in red and black, and a memorable pale pink ombré dress whose layers turned burnished gold and then a light Aegean blue, like a pastry from The Grand Budapest Hotel. Always dreamed of a frothy, floral number for your wedding? Then Bahl is your best bet.
