Olio, the Delhi-based label conceptualised by Aashna Singh, 27 and Sneha Saksena, 25, is the newest name on our radar. “Our collections will release in ‘story’ format, because this approach allows fluidity in design, instead of limiting ourselves to certain product categories,” says Singh. “We can be dynamic and shift our beat with changing seasons and trends, while staying true to our rhythm.”
Their first collection includes apparel, jewellery and boots and it plays with two themes: Circus and Binary. Circus is inspired by the form, fluidity and playfulness of performance artists and uses vibrant elements such as woven jacquard, colourful cords, and rich tassels. Binary plays with contrasts, and brings together two strong elements – think dense ebony with malleable silver on earrings, leather with colourful fabric on boots…you get the drift.
The clothing line includes a-line midis, long-line reversible duster coats and capes in fabrics such as cotton canvas, rayon, and jacquard while their boots (two styles in each collection) are made with woven jacquard paneling. The accessories in Binary take inspiration from geometric shapes whereas those in Circus are vibrant, and use cords and tassels.
Prices are between Rs 600 and Rs 5,800.
