Only a week after Louis Vuitton’s SS ’16 campaign broke the internet – with gender-bending teen icon Jaden Smith in womenswear – the brand is back with some major news. Palme d’Or winning French actor and recent Bond girl Léa Seydoux is the label’s new face. This isn’t new territory for Seydoux, who’s done ad campaigns for Miu Miu (2014) and Prada (2012). She follows in the footsteps of equally stunning actors Scarlett Johansson and Uma Thurman, who’ve been LV ambassadors in the past.
She steps into the new role as early as January 12, when she will accompany Nicolas Ghesquière, Artistic Director of Women’s collections, to the UNICEF Ball in a custom-made design. “I feel extremely proud at the thought of representing such a strong symbol of French elegance, an iconic brand whose initials are known the world over,” says Seydoux. “I deeply admire Nicolas Ghesquière’s work, especially his newness. His incessant search for novelty is also highly impressive.” Remember how she perfectly embodied old Hollywood charm in Spectre? We can’t wait to see the how the new campaign shapes up.
