How to make your blowdry last more than one day

Have you ever skipped out of the hairdresser on a Wednesday evening with perfectly blowdryed hair, only to wake up with boring ol’ flat hair on Thursday? Same. Turns out, there are a few things you can do to ensure your blowdry lasts more than one day. If you play your cards right, you could even push the boat out to four days and no wash

TO PREP

R+Co styling mousse

A long-lasting blowdry starts with the right products. (However, your hairdresser should take care of this part) Barney Martin, from Barney Martin Hair says, “Start off with the basics and use a prep spray and great brush to help set the style—right now I’m getting a bit ’80s and really embracing R+Co Chiffon Styling Mousse, Rs 2,447 at AdoreBeauty.”

As Georgia McCann, Director of Blown Lux in Sydney’s Barangaroo explains, a little dry shampoo never goes astray. “[It’s] the number one go to product for a long lasting blow dry,” she says.

WHILE YOU’RE SLEEPING

Leaving hair out while you sleep can cause curls to drop. “To maintain your bouncy blow dry twist your hair up into a loose bun,” says McCann. Ditch your usual hair tie and opt for a scrunchie instead.

Silk pillow

For bonus points, sleep on a silk pillowcase. “It really does help,” says Martin. The Goodnight Co. do a silk pillowcase for Rs 5,149, at TheGoodnightCo.com.au, along with Shhh Silk for Rs 5,086, at Shhhsilk.com.au.

ARE SOME HAIR TYPES DESTINED TO LOSE THEIR STYLE?

Unfortunately, if you have fine hair, it won’t last as long as you’d like. “Fine hair will lose its style quicker than thicker hair,” says Martin. “On the plus side, it’s quicker to blowdry fine hair.” Even Stevens?
