Following two multimillion dollar-making fragrance ventures, Kim Kardashian West has firmly placed herself at the top of the scent-makers set.
As a perfumer, KKW hasn’t yet discriminated against any notes, experimenting with sweet vanilla and caramel scents in her ‘Kimoji Hearts‘ range, as well as headier ingredients such as oud within her Crystal Gardenia line.
But there is one scent she is absolutely not about: Thierry Mugler Angel.
“My dad used to buy it for me all the time — I was so obsessed with it,” said Kim to Refinery29. “My dad’s thing was that he always bought me fragrance, everywhere he went. When he’d travel, he’d come back with fragrance and I collected them in high school. So it really does evoke a memory.”
But as much as Kim was obsessed with the scent, her memories of that particular fragrance soon soured. “With Angel, he started to buy it for all of his girlfriends, too, and they would be really annoying, so I wouldn’t like it anymore,” said Kim to Refinery29. “There were maybe two or three [girlfriends]. I got so sick of it because it turned into all their fragrances instead of my fragrance. I was like, Okay I’m done. I can’t wear that anymore.” Awkward…
She also opened up about that fact that each scent in her life holds a special meaning. Late last year, it was reported that Kardashian’s Crystal Gardenia fragrance range was inspired by the healing crystals gifted to her following her robbery in Paris in October, 2016. The gardenia notes were also inspired by the flowers that her late father would bring her when coming home from business trips.
