Now that the monsoon is finally here, we’re prepping ourselves for days wrapped up in our blanket. The second half of June brings a bunch of new releases–from suspense series to cliche romance dramas, just the mood you want to create for this season. 1. The Summer I Turned Pretty
Based on the novel written by Jenny Han (the author of To All The Boys I Loved Before), this series follows the story of teenage girl Isabel “Belly” Conklin who finds herself stuck in a love triangle between two brothers during her family summer vacation. After having a longtime crush on the older brother Conrad, he’s finally showing some interest in Belly. But later, even the younger brother, Jeremiah starts developing feelings for her. The boys and their mom meet Belly and her family every year at Cousins Beach for a holiday. But it’s not just about this teenage romance and how Belly will navigate the situation. The brothers’ mum, Susannah is battling cancer and decides to stop her treatment for it. They all want a normal summer break but things just keep getting more and more challenging.

2. Only Murders In The Building Season 2
The detective trio is back! Only Murders In The Building is all set to grace our screens once again. The second season picks up from where it left off. Following the shocking death of Alconia Board President Bunny Folger, Mabel, Charles and Oliver rush to unmask the killer. But luck isn’t in their favour. When they’re just about to escape from the murder scene, they get caught by the police. They’re not only publicly implicated in Bunny’s homicide but also become subjects of a competing podcast. Plus, they lose the trust of their building’s neighbours now that they’re murder suspects. How will they solve this murder mystery? We’re itching to watch and find out!

3. She Season 2
Bhumika Pardeshi (played by Aaditi S Pohankar) is a female constable who works with the Maharashtra police and goes on an undercover assignment to expose a drug mafia. As the show progresses, she ends up revealing who she actually is to the mafia. Will she work with him or continue working for the police? Or is this a trick to save herself? 4. Spiderhead
Chris Hemsworth and Miles Teller come together in this sci-fi thriller. Spiderhead’s plot? In a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by pharmaceutical genius Steve Abnesti (Chris), prisoners are allowed to shorten their sentence in exchange for wearing a surgically attached device that administers the dosage of emotion-controlling drugs. Incarcerated volunteers are free to be whoever they want to be, until they’re not. Sometimes, they’re even a better version of themselves. But when subjects Jeff (Miles) and Lizzy (Jurnee Smollett) begin developing feelings for each other, their path to redemption takes a turn. And Jeff begins to question the reality of his emotions and the purpose behind this experiment.

5. Love & Gelato
If you’re a sucker for cliche romance films, Love & Gelato fits the bill. On losing her mum to cancer, Lina heads to Rome to fulfil her last wish. Her mum had a transformative trip to Italy in her youth, and her request is that Lina should follow in her footsteps. And so she heads to Rome to find herself. When Lina gets there, she has an adventurous turn of events. She meets a young man named Alessandro Albani, who shows romantic interest in her. But she finds herself falling for another Italian boy Lorenzo Ferrazzan who she believes already has a girlfriend! On one hand, Alessandro shows her the glitz and glam side of Italy, whereas Lorenzo gives her a more local perspective by showing her their cuisine and gelato. A love crisis coupled with finding who her Italian father, whose identity her mother had always kept a secret–Lina has lots to navigate through.

6. Cha Cha Real Smooth
25-year-old filmmaker Cooper Raiff wrote, directed and starred opposite Dakota Johnson in this coming-of-age dramedy that portrays the pain and challenges of growing up aka adulting. The official synopsis reads, “Fresh out of college and without a clear life path going forward, 22-year-old Andrew (Cooper) is stuck back at home with his family in New Jersey. But if there’s one thing that belongs on his nonexistent résumé, it’s how to get a party started, which lands him the perfect job of motivational dancing at the bar and bat mitzvahs for his younger brother’s classmates. When Andrew befriends a local mom, Domino (Dakota), and her daughter, Lola, he finally discovers a future he wants – even if it might not be his own.”

7. The Umbrella Academy Season 3
The third installment has fans excited with the introduction of the Sparrow Academy. As per the official synopsis, “Back at the Academy, the Umbrellas are confused and clash with a new squad of Hargreeves siblings known as the Sparrows while a mysterious force descends and wreaks havoc on the city when another doomsday clock ticks. An obvious rivalry is bound to erupt as the original grown-up kids try to realign their fate inside the time paradox and battle some malevolent entity that they might have unleashed during all their decade-shifting hijinks.”
