Speak to anyone from Bangalore (Bengaluru, if you’re being politically correct) and two things are most likely to come up. The weather (they wear it like badge of honour, like they have something to do with it) and the traffic (they do have something to do with it but they blame the people from Whitefield for it). They wax eloquent about the weather and how green it is in their city. And then they shake with trepidation when the conversation turns to the snarling, serpentine queues their city also has to offer. Obviously then, when you’re looking for some vacay time, you want to enjoy the weather but avoid the traffic. JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa is designed perfectly for this.
Tucked away in Devanahalli, the JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa offers a tranquil escape to a place where the sounds you hear are of birds and not annoying blare of car horns. Once you’re inside the hotel, the city chaos fades away. When you arrive, the vast expanse of the lobby greets you, offering uninterrupted views of the Nandi hills and the rolling golf greens. If you want to take a moment simply because you can’t tear your eyes away, you could head over the Vista, grab a coffee and enjoy staring the glorious expanse. A huge golden tree sits prettily here, adding plenty of character to the view.
Gourmet Getaway
It would be hard to pick a favourite restaurant at the property for patrons of the JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa. Each of the four restaurants here offer a delectable spread, carefully curated to suit varied palates. Aaleeshan, meaning grand or opulent, lives up to its name, serving up an enviable array of kebabs, curries, and bespoke biryanis. The flavours here are delicately balanced and the options plenty, so it’s perfect to take someone you want to give an experience of Indian cuisine. The high ceilings and alfresco area add to the grandeur of Aaleeshan, transporting you to the time of royal meals. The region-inspired drinks are lovely touch.
You cannot possibly miss the Aviary because this is where the breakfast buffet is for in house guests. you will be spoilt for choice- soaked nuts to kickstart your breakfast- fruits, fresh juices and that one thing that caught my attention. A sushi station! At breakfast. The dessert bar featured stunning treats and I blame it for the rush I had the entire day.
The people at JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa were kind enough to open up the doors for East, The Asian Living Room which brings the best of Japanese, Korean and Cantonese cuisines. The set up is done in living room style, so it’s comfortable and welcoming. You can catch up for drinks with friends around a sofa before taking the conversation to dinner around the table.
Spa Date
The spa by JW warrants a special mention. The treatment rooms sit prettily over water and look out to the golfing greens. My therapist informed me that while I could spot the people pottering about on the greens, they could not see me. Phew! With my fears of being exposed rested, the therapy started. The therapist washed my feet and then asked me to clamber on to what I am sure is the most comfortable bed ever. I opted for the 60 minute treatment and when it ended, every knot in my body had been undone. I was then escorted to the jacuzzi after which I went to the steam room and ended my session with a shower. I did feel like a Pillsbury dough boy, so you can be rest assured, I didn’t really want it to end.
Stay, Sleep, Repeat
The rooms at the JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa are the epitome of luxury. My room overlooked the lagoon pool. A turquoise water, temperature controlled pool with a bar! What’s not to love? The rooms have plush carpets, a seating area and everything here can be done at the touch of a button. Want to open your drapes? All you need to to is click a button, smartly placed right next to the bed. There are plenty of lighting options – reading, night, relax etc- so you can choose exactly how you want to mood light your space for the night. The bathrooms here are spacious featuring a tub- that you do not want to get out of. The white in the bathroom is also a vibe, the kind of place you want to click plenty of pictures in.
I came away from Bengaluru, craving another getaway because this one was awesome. Sigh, I will have to wait.
