After 16 years of lighting up the K-pop world, SHINee’s MINHO is finally blessing us with his first solo album, CALL BACK. And, honestly? It’s everything we’ve been waiting for. From his smooth vocals to his raw, emotional performances, this album shows a whole new side of MINHO—one that’s confident, heartfelt, and ready to take on the world.
The K-pop album CALL BACK features collaborations with aespa’s NINGNING and RIIZE’s SOHEE, blending different genres, offering everything for everyone. Whether he’s reflecting on love, loss, or personal growth, MINHO’s passion shines through every track. And to celebrate the album to the fullest, the icon sat with ELLE for an exclusive conversation about music, his tour and everything in between.
ELLE: If you had to CALL BACK one memory from your journey so far, which moment would it be?
Minho: The moment that instantly comes to mind is my debut performance. After years of perseverance and hard work, stepping onto that stage was a powerful feeling. It was the realisation of a dream I had worked so hard for, and the excitement and emotion I felt in that moment are something I will never forget.

ELLE: You’ve worked with aespa’s NINGNING and RIIZE’s SOHEE on this album. What surprised you the most?
Minho: I’m truly thankful to NINGNING and SOHEE for generously participating in the album, especially given how busy they both are. Both of their contributions really elevated the songs to the next level. The harmony we created together turned out even more beautiful than I had imagined, and the experience of working with them was incredibly rewarding. I’m beyond happy with how it all came together.
ELLE: CALL BACK is about expressing your feelings. What’s something you’ve been meaning to say but haven’t yet?
Minho: I’ve been wanting to express my heartfelt gratitude to the fans in India for their incredible support. I’ve always hoped to meet them in person, and I can’t wait for the day when that becomes a reality. It’s something I’ve been holding onto, and I look forward to sharing it with them.
ELLE: Your music video has two moods: hesitant and confident. What theme song would you pick for each?
Minho: For the confident MINHO, I would choose CALL BACK, as it perfectly represents the boldness and determination to openly express one’s feelings. On the other hand, for the more hesitant MINHO, I Don’t Miss You would be fitting. The song’s lyrics revolve around repeatedly convincing oneself not to miss someone, which really captures that internal hesitation and emotional conflict.
ELLE: After 16 years, you’re holding your first solo concert. What’s the most unexpected thing you’ve learned about yourself?
Minho: Since the concert is still ahead of me, I believe I’ll discover new things about myself through the experience. But right now, my focus is entirely on preparing to give my best performance and create a memorable experience for everyone, just as I always strive to do.
ELLE: How excited are you for your solo concert, and what’s the one thing you always do on stage to make it unforgettable?
Minho: I’m beyond excited as well! The anticipation of finally sharing the stage with my fans is something I’ve been looking forward to for so long. To make the concert truly unforgettable, I always make sure to capture the moment by taking a group photo with the fans. It’s my way of preserving that special connection and ensuring we all have a beautiful memory to hold onto.
ELLE: With your talents in music, acting, and sports, what’s the next challenge you’d like to take on?
Minho: While I’m deeply passionate about music, acting, and sports, one new challenge I’d love to take on is competing in a triathlon. It’s a goal that would push me both physically and mentally, and I’m excited by the idea of testing my limits in such a dynamic and demanding event.
ELLE: If you could wear any wild outfit for your concert, what would it be?
Minho: I’ve always been drawn to bold, extravagant outfits that truly make an impact. I feel that such striking styles not only capture attention but also allow me to showcase my personality and versatility, giving me the chance to express a range of unique, dynamic charms that fit the energy on the stage.
ELLE: What’s something you’re looking forward to achieving in the next chapter of your career?
Minho: In the next chapter of my career, I hope to go on a world tour with our SHINee members. The opportunity to meet our fans from all around the world, share unforgettable experiences, and deliver spectacular performances is something I’m truly excited about.
ELLE: You visited India almost a decade ago. Do you think you’ll make space in your calendar again, now that K-pop is bigger than ever here?
Minho: I would absolutely love to visit India again. I know that our SHINee WORLD fans there have consistently supported us, and it would be amazing to finally reconnect with them in person. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to share that special experience with them.

Minho: Indian SHINee WORLD, your constant love and support truly mean everything to us. I always think of you and miss all of you so much. I’m really looking forward to the day we can finally meet in person and make even more unforgettable memories together.
