Two years after Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt filed for divorce, the actress has reportedly reached out to her ex-husband to find a better way to co-parent their six children.
For months, the couple have been embroiled in a frosty custody battle, but a source has told Entertainment Tonight that the couple have finally put an end to their feud.
“Brad and Angelina actually set up a secret meeting at her house,” the source explained.
It’s the first time they have truly gotten together to make things work since their group therapy with the children. Brad and Angie’s meeting was a success. They are going to stay with the plan set forth through the courts.
“Angelina decided it was time to try to make things work and Brad was relieved and very ready for the offer,” the source added. “Brad has been dedicated to making peace throughout the process and now it finally seems like they are at a point where they can create a calmer situation for the kids.”
BRAD AND ANGIE’S MEETING WAS A SUCCESS
The news comes two months after the ‘Maleficent’ actress reportedly alleged her estranged husband had shirked his responsibility to pay child support.
According to court documents obtained by NBC News filed earlier this summer in the Los Angeles Superior Court, Jolie reportedly claimed Pitt hadn’t paid any ‘meaningful’ child support for a year and a half during their ongoing divorce.
In June, the 43-year-old actress was reportedly also ordered by a judge to help repair her children’s relationship with their father.
ET reportedly obtained court documents that revealed the actor was able to attain more time with five of his children (Pax, Zahara, Shloh, Knox, and Vivienne) over the summer, while 16-year-old Maddox “because of his age and maturity” was allowed to choose how much time he wanted with his father.
The source notes the recent meeting between Jolie and Pitt was a “huge step” for the former couple.
“They both hope to continue to work together for the kids,” they added.
Last May, Pitt spoke about the split and ongoing custody battle for the first time in ‘I heard one lawyer say, “No one wins in court – it’s just a matter of who gets hurt worse,”‘ he said. “And it seems to be true. You spend a year just focused on building a case to prove your point and why you’re right and why they’re wrong, and it’s just an investment in vitriolic hatred. I just refuse. And fortunately my partner in this agrees.”
Meanwhile, Jolie revealed her thoughts on the divorce to told Vanity Fair last July, revealing: “We care for each other and care about our family, and we are both working towards the same goal.”
She later told The Hollywood Reporter how she thought the pair’s collaboration on the film By The Sea might be a good way for the pair to open up to each other.
