What began as half-moon manicures in the ’20s has now evolved into blithe artistic lines. Graphic nail art is just as popular on the street style circuit as it is on the runway, and these patterns draw inspiration from everything, like animal print to something as abstract as road signs. The rule to getting it right is simple, go with black and white polish, and an occasional pop of colour. A megawatt shine, clear base and a continuous scribble was Moschino’s edgy take on the trend, whereas at Christian Siriano, zebra stripes were reimagined with a black base and twisted, white lines. The models at Vivienne Westwood wore matte black nail polish with yellow squiggles, reminiscent of racetrack stripes.
PRO TIP: Paint a grid of dots and then join them to get straight lines.
