Voluminous mermaid gowns died a loveless death at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards, even as yellow and liquid silver took over. Sunshine girls Naomi Watts, Leslie Mann and Elettra Wiedemann were seen in happy shades of yellow – everything from pale to canary gold. Silver trumped over gold, with Diane Kruger, Reese Witherspoon, Julianne Moore and Dakota Johnson working the colour in head-to-toe metallic. Pretty as a picture floor-grazers got some love too – Lupita Nyong’o’s Valli floral gown, Anna Kendrick’s pink tulle wrap and Amy Adams in her Versace powder blue dress. And then there were those who ditched floor length gowns for something way better. Case in point, Emma Stone who chose Lanvin pants, and Lorde who went with a Narciso Rodriguez pantsuit.
