3 striking make-up trends we spotted at the Critics’ Choice Awards 2019

Award season is in full swing—the 24th Annual Critics Choice Awards were aired early morning on January 13. Some of the big winners of the night were Glenn Close for The Wife, Lady Gaga for A Star Is Born and Christian Bale for Vice. While the critics made their choice, we couldn’t help but make some of our own—we’re talking about our favourite beauty looks. As part of our research, we noticed that certain make-up trends made a recurring appearance on the red carpet and, unsurprisingly, they were all classic go-tos.

Here are the three trends that ruled the Critics’ Choice Awards 2019:

1. THE BOLD LIP

The bold lip is clearly here to stay! Whether you choose to go with a bright red like Olivia Munn, or a deep bordeaux like Emmy Rossum, you know you can never go wrong with a strong pout. Most importantly, however, they balanced their look by keeping the rest of their face very minimal, including the eyes. Lengthy lashes and basic eye make-up tied everything together.

2. THE PEACHY FLUSH

Keeping their make-up bare and basic, celebrities such as Charlize Theron, Mandy Moore, and Claire Foy went for very subtle nude bases with a flush of colour on their cheeks. Easy to recreate, these looks are perfect for those times when you just want to stick to the bare minimum.

3. THE LASH ALMIGHTY

Less may sometimes be more but, when it comes to eyelashes, more is ALWAYS more! Giving volume and length to their lashes, celebrities like Lady Gaga, Nicole Kidman, and Sandra Oh, made their eyes the focus by opting for strong and long eyelashes, while keeping everything else on the DL.
