How to sleep with curls

You may love your curls, but your pillow begs to differ. If waking up to the two-hour process of detangling your hair sounds like the story of your life, fret not; help is at hand. Kérastase has released The Book of Curls which comprehensively details all that you should, and should not, be doing to maintain your curls. As our Good Samaritan deed, we bring you a peek from their chapter on how to preserve your locks overnight:

Only use a satin or a silk pillowcase to avoid getting your curls into a tizzy with friction. (Empress Elisabeth of Austria used to swear by this too!)

Want to wake up to defined curls? The Pineapple bun is the answer to your prayers. Gather your hair into a very high ponytail and roll it around the base. Secure with a bungee band and drift off to wonderland on your dreamy satin pillow.

Would you rather wake up to extremely bouncy curls instead? Opt for multiple buns instead. Take a portion of your hair and twist. Secure it on the top of your head with a band. Repeat another 4 – 5 times. The next morning, take it down and loosen the strands with your fingers. Voilà, happy curls that’ll survive the ‘I woke up like this’ test.
