8 hair colour predictions for 2020

New year, new me? More like new year, new hue! Having run the gamut of hair colour trends in 2019 – right from Living Coral to the Mallen streak – it’s now time to settle down for a shade that feels…well, 2020. There are still plenty of new hair concepts doing the rounds.

Scroll through our predictions of the hottest hair trends…

Lifted Browns

While a rich brown is a classic, consider perking it up with caramel highlights, lighter mid-shaft and ends, and blonde babylights.

Dark Roots

Hair growth? Great. Grown out roots? Not so much…until now. As we move into a new decade, it looks like we’re easing into darker roots0—especially when it’s a root-smudged balayage.

Shades of Orange

Copper, tangerine, gingerbeer, burnt peach…it’s open season for shades that look as good as they sound. Copper tones are most likely to complement skin with warm undertones, and the fade is fire (see what we did there?).

Dip Dye

If not Eilish, perhaps you can try those punk hues Demi Lovato favours worn in a dip dye style. It’s a badass look – especially for shorter buzz cuts.

Smokey Lavender

By themselves, purple and platinum are both ‘bold’ routes to go down, but marry them in a smokey balayage, and you have yourself a hot trend that’s going strong into 2020. The intensity and placement of the colours is basically your playing field.

Flaming Reds

We know, we know… red has been on every hair colour trend list since god-knows-when, but the classic hue is undeniably versatile, going from solid violet-red to multidimensional auburn. Most importantly, it’s super flattering on Indian skin tones.

Peek-a-Boos

Rainbow streaks were a popular look this past year, and now, they’re peeking out! A certified fun way to try vibrant pop colours, plus, have a sombre head of hair at hand ready to take a shaadi.
