I’m an outfit planner. Usually, by the night before, I know what I’m wearing the next day – down to the accessories and shoes. It’s an added stress that I happily take but this week I was feeling a bit lazy and decided to let AI do my job (it’s supposed to replace me anyway right?).
After a verbal sparring match where I kept asking ChatGPT to elevate the very basic outfits it picked for me, I finally realised that this piece of intense technology couldn’t possibly be the thing that makes me obsolete. However, I was determined to give it a chance.
In a final attempt, I nudged ChatGPT in the direction of what my style is actually like and voila – it went on to give me a 500-word essay on my distinct style. As a writer who prides herself on her speed, I have never been humbled more quickly.
I am easily frustrated and truly believe that AI only finally gives me what I’m looking for when I type in all caps so that’s what I did. I yelled and behold, it finally gave me a week’s worth of outfits.
AI simply decided to create an itinerary for my week as well. I wish I had the social life for it but here’s what the final output was.
Monday: Casual Work Day
Light blue button-down shirt paired with Khaki chino shorts, brown leather loafers and Aviator sunglasses.
Tuesday: Outdoor Picnic
White cotton blouse with high-waisted denim shorts complimented by a straw hat, canvas sneakers and a crossbody bag
Wednesday: Beach Day
A striped tank top with denim cutoff shorts flip flops, oversized sunglasses and a straw tote bag.
Thursday: Evening Dinner Date
Flowy floral maxi dress, wedge sandals, statement earrings and a clutch purse.
Friday: Casual Friday at the Office
A sleeveless blouse paired with a navy blue pencil skirt, nude heels, tote bag and delicate necklace.
Saturday: Shopping and Errands
A graphic tee and denim skirt with white sneakers, a backpack and a baseball cap complete the look.
Sunday: Brunch with Friends
Off-the-shoulder top and high-waisted palazzo pants with platform sandals, tassel earrings and shoulder purse.
These outfits should keep you stylish and comfortable throughout the week while enjoying summer activities.
I think it’s safe to say that I’m irreplaceable but I will, however, be going on a shopping spree and making more plans with my friends because AI just made me feel like I don’t own enough clothes and have a non-existent social life. On a positive note, at least it was as planned as I am down to the accessories and the shoes.
