The Ambani wedding has gloriously taken over all our feeds, with countless Indian designers and a legion of heritage weaves being exposed to an otherwise uninformed audience. And that’s great because now many non-fashion folks know the relevance of traditional weaves like Himroo and Chanderi.
A-listers have also proved their mettle at whipping out their finest ensembles (the stylists also need ample appreciation here) and there were many standouts – so sifting through that list will ermm…be a task. But doing what I’m best at, I directed my attention to all the couples in attendance and in turn honoured my inner simp in doing so.
Let’s skim through the best-dressed couples at the Ambani wedding (it was hard to wrap it up concisely, I tell you).
1. Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput Kapoor
Ivory reigns, again. Mira was lensed in a monotone lehenga by House Of Kotwara with an interesting inverted ‘V’ detail at the blouse’s hem. The scalloped dupatta and simple hairdo was a clear winner and Shahid’s beautifully tailored kurta set did all the talking on his behalf. A well-dressed couple indeed.
2. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh

Of course, they had to be on the list. Deepika donned a regal Torani sari while Ranveer opted for a signature GG piece featuring gunmetal-hued embroidery. The specks of white in Padukone’s sari subtly complement the pristine white colour of his sherwani and we’re loving it. Shoutout to Orry for clicking this picture because there’s a severe dearth of their pictures together at the wedding.
3. Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor
Digging this strapless blouse moment by Manish Malhotra. She’s Barbie, he’s just Ken. Emeralds and pink really go hand in hand and Alia’s look corroborates the same. Ranbir’s just happy to be there. I relate.
4. Kiara Advani and Siddharth Malhotra
Torani was busy, booked and how at this wedding. Wearing a pink and purple lehenga choli set, Kiara channelled the ’90s at the Ambani wedding in this nostalgic ensemble with Sid’s relatively muted sherwani by Manish Malhotra balancing the two aesthetics together. He’s letting her shine and we love that.
5. Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal
Vicky’s Manish Malhotra number with Kat’s black and white Tarun Tahiliani sari was a masterclass in glamour from the olden days. We love a good minimalistic moment, away from all the OTT drama otherwise.
6. Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas
Priyanka wore a vibrant yellow lehenga by Tarun Tahiliani and Nick stunned in a classic Sabyasachi outfit in pink tweed. Couple goals.
7. Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul
You can never go wrong with an Anamika Khanna number. Revered for her usage of subtle Indian motifs in a contemporary context, this blush-hued sharara set takes the cake here. KL being the good sport he is, lets Athiya dominate the sartorial quotient. Cuties.
8. Genelia Deshmukh and Riteish Deshmukh
Genelia’s nath easily won when it came to the accessory game at the Ambani wedding. Her ensembles were reflective of her husband’s Maharashtrian roots and the two decided to twin on multiple occasions at the Ambani wedding. Here, she’s seen donning a custom handwoven, vegan Himroo sari particularly known to be mastered by the weavers of Maharashtra.
