AI Calls Ananya Panday’s Style In ‘Call Me Bae’ A Mix Of Blair Waldorf And Serena van der Woodsen

Ananya Panday

Since the trailer launch of Ananya Panday’s Amazon Prime show Call Me Bae yesterday, tabloids and fashion blogs have been working overtime to give their two cents on the vivacious Bella ‘Bae’ Chowdhury. While some have compared it to Schitt’s Creek, given the riches-to-rags plotline, others are touting it as another chick-flick overdose set to attach itself to the genre that has somehow fared poorly in this country.

As for me, it’s all about Ananya Panday’s maximalist fits and expertly manicured styling that’ll make or break the show when it’s out. Having established herself as a style icon given her willingness to experiment, I’m of the opinion that there’s going to be a severe dearth of falterations on the sartorial grounds. Thus, I hopped on the AI bandwagon (pardon me), bombarded the chatbot ‘Gemini’ with questions regarding her styling, and asked for parallels to be drawn with pop culture’s favourite preppy girls.

Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl

Both Panday and Blair are known for their love of designer brands, bold patterns, and high-waisted skirts.

Olivia Pope From Scandal

Like Olivia, Ananya often wears powerful suits and statement pieces, projecting a confident and sophisticated image.

Serena van der Woodsen from Gossip Girl

Serena’s effortless style and love for mini dresses and flowy tops are reminiscent of Ananya Panday’s wardrobe in Call Me Bae.

Any talk about a fashion-heavy show would be incomplete without addressing the elephant in the room: Sonam Kapoor in Aisha. While AI agrees on the similarities, it also stresses on the distinct differences between the two. There’s ample privilege as both characters come from affluent backgrounds and are accustomed to a luxurious lifestyle. Both are also known for their stylish fashion choices and they do a decent job at incorporating elements of comedy and drama whilst exploring themes of personal growth and self-discovery.

However, while both characters experience personal challenges, the specific plot points and storylines differ significantly. Aisha is a coming-of-age story, while Call Me Bae focuses on a character’s journey from wealth to rags. Kapoor’s character in Aisha is often seen as more complex and nuanced, exploring themes of identity and societal expectations. Ananya Panday’s character in Call Me Bae is described as being more fun and light-hearted. As for the tone of the two movies, Aisha is more mature and sophisticated while Call Me Bae is said to be more youthful and energetic.

Ananya Panday

As for her personal style, Ananya Panday’s personal style is generally consistent with her on-screen appearances, she loves bold colours and patterns. Known for frequenting bright hues and eye-catching prints, the fashion ‘It’ girl also harbours a soft spot for feminine silhouettes. Guess she’ll be dressing like herself in the show.
