Cutwork, cross-stitch and appliqué are giving shape to the season’s coolest accessories. From necklaces made out of safety pins to woven bags and patchwork clutches, DIY products are creating buzz. Remember your arts and crafts class in school? It’s just like that, but the high-fashion version.
Want to get on trend but not sure how? Take a cue from the spring/summer runways. While Alexander McQueen showcased a collection of chessboard-inspired woven dresses, bustiers, skirts and jackets, Marni transformed its pencil skirts, crop tops and bomber jackets with petal appliqué work. Following suit, Balmain displayed its skilled handiwork with interwoven jumpers and jackets, while MSGM went eclectic with ropes interwoven on skirts. The message is clear; craft is cool.
For your viewing pleasure, we’ve rounded up a list of 15 craft-inspired bags, caps, shoes and more. Why not tap into your creative side and try making one of these yourself? Click through the gallery above and be inspired.
