Featuring Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Meghan Markle and more

And just like that, 2019 is coming to an end. This year saw several iconic moments that made headlines and broke the internet. New couples, activists and memes emerged, and another royal blessed the earth. Here’s a look at the top viral Instagram posts from 2019. Scroll through:

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas attended MET Gala again, and this time, as a couple: Priyanka went all out (or should we say camp) with her dramatic Alice in Wonderland themed caged dress at the MET, which invited many trolls on social media but, Priyanka handled it like the bawse she is.

Deepika Padukone went all out on the Cannes red carpet (quite literally): Deepika Padukone had us (and critics) shook with her OTT neon green look. If we had to guess, we’d say Ranveer has had quite an influence on Deepika’s style.

PM Modi's selfie moment with Bollywood celebs: The internet went berserk when PM Modi shared a frame with Bollywood stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan, ALL in one frame.

Taylor Swift and Katy Perry made amends: The video for Taylor Swift’s You Need to Calm Down showed that Taylor was willing to put the song’s message into practice by squashing her beef with long-term ‘rival’ Katy Perry. The video features a cameo from Perry dressed as a burger, hugging it out with Taylor who was dressed as a pack of French fries. And just like that, all was right in the world of pop again.

Ranveer Singh had a spot-on resemblance to Kapil Dev: You’ve seen Kapil Dev’s Natraj shot, but now prepare yourself for Ranveer Singh’s Natraj shot. Couldn't see the difference? Us neither.

A royal heir: On May 6, 2019, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry became proud parents to baby Archie, who’s the great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II. Cut to now, he’s already crawling!

The one where we were thankful for Neetu Kapoor’s Instagram: We got a glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt on stage for the first time, thanks to Neetu Kapoor and her #ProudMama instincts. (hyperlink our web story somewhere here)

Our Friends had a reunion: Jennifer Anniston blessed us with two things this year. The first—her Instagram debut, and the second, a group selfie of the Friends cast together. For those of us who still love the show (so basically everyone), it was great seeing the actors who defined television in the ‘90s hanging out just like old times. Here’s hoping for a reunion.

Jennifer Lopez reprised her Versace green dress: The only thing that could ever top JLO wearing that famous green dress to the 2000 Grammy Awards? JLO wearing it again, at a fashion show in 2019! The star made a surprise appearance at the Spring 2020 Versace runway in September, strutting down the runway wearing an updated version of the iconic green dress.

Malaika Arora's heartfelt birthday wish post for Arjun Kapoor: Putting months of speculation to rest, Malaika Arora finally made her relationship with Arjun Kapoor Insta-official when she wished him on his birthday with this adorable picture.

Justin and Hailey Bieber officially said "I Do", again: After discreetly tying the knot in a private courthouse ceremony in 2018, Justin and Hailey held their official wedding ceremony for the second time, in South Carolina. Hailey’s wedding gown (and veil) was enough to make a cynic believe in true love.

Lizzo sparked a meme frenzy (with a LITTLE help from the micro bag): Lizzo had a career-making year in 2019, releasing new music, touring the world and becoming a viral sensation thanks to her message of self-love and an incredibly tiny purse. In a truly excellent pop culture moment, Lizzo arrived at the American Music Awards in November carrying what is almost definitely the world's smallest purse, a tiny Valentino micro bag. The bag spawned endless memes and prompted Lizzo to declare on Instagram that it was "big enough for my f—s to give."

Greta Thunberg triggered a bunch of boomers: Swedish climate change activist, Greta Thunberg campaigned and push for better laws to protect the environment. The 16-year-old continued her work relentlessly, in the face of unbecoming name-calling by head of states such as Donald Trump of USA and Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil.

The impact of US Women’s football team: This year, the captain of the USA women’s football team, Megan Rapinoe led the team to a fantastic win at the World Cup, and fought for equal pay, both at the same time. She made rousing speeches with statements like “We have to be better…it’s our responsibility to make the world a better place.” And it looks like 2020 is going to be an even bigger year for her as she gears up to release a memoir.
