5 best foundation brushes, sponges and applicators

Marc Jacobs The Face I

"I apply two pumps of foundation to the back of my hand," says Sarah Tanno, the makeup pro behind Lady Gaga's beauty evolution. "Next swipe a small amount to the center of the face and blend out and down the neck for even complexion."

Artis Oval tool

Hailey Baldwin and Kaia Gerber's go-to makeup artist Lucy Halperin massages foundation into the skin using Artis's soft-bristled blending brush.

Brush and beauty blender

"I love to paint the makeup into the face," says Rashida Jones' makeup pro Jamie Greenberg. "It gives me control to place the foundation strategically like a painting. Then I blend and blur the foundation with a Blender to make the makeup look like real skin."

Beauty blender sponge

Lily Aldridge and Chloe Grace Moretz's makeup artist Quinn Murphy dampens her Blender with water before applying a drop of liquid foundation directly to the tip. The Blender delivers "just the right amount of product on the skin and isn't streaky like a brush or goopy like fingers," she explains.

Fingers

"I love to use clean fingers because the combination of the heat of your fingers and the massaging of the product helps the foundation sink into your skin," says Andréa Tiller who works with Amy Schumer, Olivia Culpo and Lea Michele.
