Anyone who has tried juicing is always on the lookout for new recipes. While the not-so-tasty veggie blends help with weight loss, the berry-packed juices and smoothies do wonders for your skin. At the Elle Beauty Awards, we asked a bunch of Bollywood’s fittest women to part with their favourite recipes. While Diana Penty has the ultimate tip for cutting down sugar and adding flavour, Malaika Arora and Bani J both swear by the same superfood.
Malaika Arora Khan’s superfood smoothie
For all of you who aren’t green juice fans, you’re not alone. Malaika doesn’t want to go green either, preferring to juice her berries rather than her vegetables. Her favourites are goji, acai and blueberry, which she blends with a bit of Greek yoghurt, a splash of coconut water and tops it off with spirulina. The nutrient-rich substance is a favourite of Malaika’s and we don’t blame her — it’s a high source of protein and rich in antioxidants.
Diana Penty’s beauty potion
Diana Penty is a long-time fan of superfoods like kale and quinoa, but she prefers to ingest those leafy kale leaves in juice form. Her go-to juice is packed with vegetables like kale, celery and spinach, with the addition of lime juice and ginger. To add some sweetness to this potion, she tosses green apple into the mix, which has less sugar than the usual red apples.
Bani J’s go-to healthy juice
The fitness-obsessed Bani J regularly uploads smoothie recipes on her channels. But her most famous recipe has to be her kale, mango, spinach and wheatgrass concoction. Bani swear that adding mango or a banana to your smoothies will just change the game. Like Malaika, she likes to add a tablespoon of acai and spirulina. Bani tops hers of with chia seeds.
