5 delish things at the Farmers’ Market
If you’re in Mumbai this weekend, skip a meal and head to High Street Phoenix

There’s a lot to love about farmers’ markets: local, organic produce; a chance to support small businesses; and enough scope for arty #foodporn shots to keep your Instagram account fed for days. The Mumbai Farmers’ Market by Karen Anand, will do all that, plus keep your drink topped up and give you recipes to take back to your own kitchen. To get the most out of your time there, make these 5 stops. Pardon the exclamation marks—food has that effect on us.
1. Popsicles! As you step in from the heat, head to the White Owl Brewery stall and wrap your face around a beer popsicle as you browse the market. If you’d prefer a non-alcoholic brain-freeze, go to Frugurpop for a fruit-packed pop. Here’s hoping they won’t run out of the Triple Berry, packed with the tartness of blueberry, raspberry and strawberry.

2. Booze! Loop back to the White Owl Brewery for a frothy mug of craft beer. Chase that down with a tumbler of a spicy whisky cocktail, called Mowgli. Mixologist Bhagwan Bodke, of The Kipling Bar and Sahib Room, will show you how to make the perfect batch of the stuff at a master chef demo, on Saturday, April 11, at 5pm.

3. Seafood Bhel! This dish at The Bombay Canteen already has a fan following. Watch Chef Thomas Zacharias toss up plates of crunchy deliciousness, piled high with plump prawns and calamari. On Sunday, April 12, at 5pm.

5. Hot stuff! From the gently smoking jalapeno to the melt-your-face-right-off bhut jholokia, or Assamese ghost chilli, this Farmers’ Market is really packing the heat. Find a desi jar of olive and jalapeno achaar at Goosebump Pickles, and the ghost chilli sauce at The Cantonese Kitchen.
